ARRHYTHMIA-2023 SPORTS EVENT

The annual sports meet 2023 of Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Bathinda was held on 20.03.2023 & 21..03.2023 in the Adesh Univer sity campus. The chief guests for the events were Dr. Amanish Singh Shinh and Mr. Shridhar K.V.

The guest of honour for the events were Dr. lmtiyaz Ahmed Nadaf, Dr. Varun Malhotra, Mr. Sarabjit Singh Brar and Dr. Dawinder Singh Grewal.

The highlights of the sports meet were100m, 200m, relay race, shot put and tug of war for the MBBS students.

The winners of the above mentioned events were facilitated with medals. The Participants were appreciated by the Principal of AIMSR, Dr. Rajiv Mahajan.

The sports meet was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Rajinderjit Singh Ahi, coordinator sports committee. The student organizers for the events were the sports secretaries, Ratneev Kaur and Hritik Kumar.

The dignitaries and the faculty members were delighted to see large number of students participating enthusiastically.

PG Thesis workshop “Basics of Thesis Research”

A two-day workshop on “Basics of Thesis Resarch” was held at Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Bathinda from 30th to 31st January 2023 for all postgraduate students of admission Batch 2022. The program was held under the PMC observership of Dr Gurpreet Singh Gill and awarded 8 PMC credit hours. The program was organized by the Medical Education Unit and Research Committee of AIMSR under Organizing Chairperson & Principal, Dr Rajiv Mahajan and Organizing Secretary & MEU Coordinator, Dr Tanvir Kaur Sidhu. The resource faculty included Dr Tanvir Kaur Sidhu, Dr Varun Mohan Malhotra, Dr Sandeep Kaur, Dr Nitin Bansal, Dr Upinder Kaur, Dr Kapil Gupta, Dr Neelesh Bansal, Dr Rajwinder Kaur, Dr Paresh Prajapati, Dr Anshul and Dr Avneet Garg. The workshop sessions emphasized the need and trained their young postgraduate students in scientific research. Sessions were held to discuss the various aspects of planning and conducting research by the postgraduates as a part of thesis work. The workshop aimed at improving the research competence of postgraduates before they embark on their journey    of    thesis    work.    A    total    of    43    postgraduates    were    trained    in    this    workshop.

World Thalassemia Day- 8th May 2023

World Thalassemia Day celebration was done in AIMSR under collaborative efforts of Department of IHBT (Blood Centre ) and Pediatrics on 18th May, 2023.Thalassemia Warrior children were felicitated with gifts and cake cutting ceremony was done. Poster making competition was also organized on the theme, “Be aware, share, care: Strengthening Education to bridge the Thalassemia Care Gap”, in Thalassemia day care ward. The occasion was graced by Dr. Manraj Kaur Gill, Director, Adesh Advanced Imaging Institute, as Chief Guest and Dr. Harkiran Kaur Khaira, Dean, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Adesh University and Dr. Rajiv Mahajan, Principal, AIMSR as Guests of Honor.

World Blood Donor’s Day 2023

World Blood Donor’s Day was celebrated on under the theme. “Donate blood, donate plasma, Share life, Share often”. Honoring Ceremony of 10 NGOs and 45 regular blood donors was done with certificates and memento. Students of College of Nursing performed a role play depicting the importance of blood donation. Pledge taking ceremony for voluntary blood donation was also observed. The day marked the beginning of 15 days long voluntary blood donation drive.

Organ donation and Transplantation

Organ donation and Transplantation is one of the most remarkable medical success storiesof this century.Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Bathindahas got the approval from Govt of Punjab to start Liver Transplantation. Today i.e09.08.2019 the institution organized a Lecture incollaboration with MOHANFoundation Chennai for awareness of organ donation amongstthe faculty staff and students.A team of Mohan Foundation (Northern India)chaptervisited Adesh University.The team made a presentation highlighting the importanceand procedureof organ donationand give the awareness. They told that Vital organslike heart, liver, kidneys, intestines, lungs and pancreas can be donated in case of brain death. However, other tissues likecorneas, heart valves,skin bones etc can be donated in natural death. Organ like Kidney, Liver can also be donated by living donor. One can be an organ donor by singing a donor card from any hospital and NGO. If a person has a donorcard, it means that he/she is willing to donate organsupon death.We shouldremember that in our country even if one has signed the donor card, it is important to have the consensus ofthe family while signing the donor card.
